In 1895 it was recognized that there was 2 jewellers and watchmakers established in Neepawa. Fred Leach was joined by Mr. Vickery in the jewellery business and operated Leach and Vickery jewellers in the early 1900's. Mr. Witt Gossel also operated a jewellery store since the turn of the century until 1916 when he was bought out by Robert Ferris. His jewellery shop was just north of the Bank of Montreal until 1941 when he moved to the corner of Mountain and Brydon in Mr. Pedlar's building. The property was sold to McLeods, so he moved his business to a house just south of there. This place was later sold as well so he moved his business to his home where he continued to do watch repairs until his 90th year. In the mid 20th century Garland and Wilson Jewellers came to town and was purchased by Walter Zeke in 1960. Zeke Jewellers expanded in 1969 to include an operation in Minnedosa and later expanded to Brandon in 1981. Neepawa's Jewellery store is still Zekes.
