CIRCULATION POLICIES

How long can patrons check out materials?

The library collection includes books, magazines, tapes, and videos for all ages. The loan period is 3 weeks for all materials except: videos are lent for 1 day. The most recent magazines are kept for "In Library Use" only but all other copies are available to the patrons. Materials should be checked out with a library card and should be checked out to the card holding person.

What are the overdue charges?

Overdue material are assessed a 5 cents/day fine for print materials and $1.00/day for videos.

How many books can be checked out at one time?

Each patron is responsible for the material checked out. Therefore, the patron must decide the number of materials checked out with the following stipulations observed:

Each patron is allowed:
     3 books by a certain author or
     3 books from a certain subject area or

Each household/family is allowed:
     3 videos

New patrons are asked to check out 6 items for a 2 month probationary period.

How many books can be checked out at one time?

A patron can renew books by bringing the materials to the library or by phoning the library with the request.
The renewal will be for 3 weeks. The exception will be materials that have been borrowed from another library.
The lending library will be contacted first to ask for the extension and the status will determine if the book can be renewed.

How do I get a library card?

Residents of Neepawa and Langford municipality are entitled to a library membership through their property tax base.
Library cards are given to persons completing a registration form.
Two registration forms exist: one for adult and one for children under 12.

Non-residents must pay a fee to obtain library privileges. Persons paying property taxes in
Neepawa but living elsewhere pay an annual fee of $15. A fee of $65 is collected for all other non-residents.

What does it mean to be part of the Western Regional Library

Neepawa Public Library is part of the Western Manitoba Regional Library system. The Brandon Public Library,
Carberry-North Cypress, and Glenboro-South Cyprus are sister libraries. The following are the advantages that
patrons receive being part of the region:

The Neepawa Public Library, Branch Supervisor, and local staff benefit from working directly with two librarians
who have post graduate library degrees. Their expertise is valued.
