We have exciting news in the Westman Region - KidSport was able to help 148 children participate in 12 different sports for the April 30 deadline. Applications from eight communities were submitted with all of them receiving funds!
As a reminder, Sport Manitoba's new grant manual for 2011-12 is now available. Several grants are available to help you and those in your community defray the costs associated with sport. Although only one is featured in this eNews, many others are available. Contact us to see how we can help you or browse through the Grant Manual for a full list of available grants.
Last month, Sport Manitoba - Westman Region was sad to see our manager Joyce Wityshyn leave us. We wish Joyce all the best in her future endeavours and her new position with Farm Credit Canada.
Stay tuned to future editions of our eNews to find out who our new Regional Manager will be.
If you have any questions or if you would like to submit information for the next issue of our Regional eNews, please contact me at amy.gabler@sportmanitoba.ca.

KidSportTM Helps 148 Westman Kids |
For the April 30 deadline, 167 children submitted applications to the KidSport fund, requesting $19,250.00. After considering the applications, 148 children were provided with $16,575.00!
Children were helped to participate in 12 different sports, including soccer, football, swimming, softball, baseball, high school sports, and many more! Applications were received from 8 different communities in Westman, with all of them receiving funds.
KidSport would like to thank Canadian Tire JumpStart for the funding they provided to assist kids in Westman. With their assistance we were able to provide 84 children with funding.
KidSport would also like to thank the Brandon Area Community Foundation. By providing KidSport with a $2,000 grant, we were able to provide 20 athletes with the funding they needed to participate in softball and soccer.
If you missed the spring deadline, there is still opportunity to receive funding at a later deadline. Please contact our office to discuss your options. |

Renewal of the Canadian Sport Policy Survey |
All Manitobans Can Have Their Say by Participating in an Online Survey Today
The Canadian Sport Policy presents a powerful vision for sport in Canada. Federal and provincial/territorial Ministers responsible for sport are providing Canadians with the opportunity for input into the 2012 Canadian Sport Policy renewal process by inviting you to complete an online survey.
Completing this survey will provide your input into building a sport policy that reflects input from a wide range of stakeholders in Manitoba and Canada. The vision embraced by the policy will lay the foundation upon which federal and provincial/territorial governments and sport stakeholders will focus their efforts over the next ten years to improve sport in our province and country.
We encourage you, as well as the members of your organization, to go online and complete this survey.
Please use the following link: http://app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/sirc/csp-renewal-2011/?l=eng.
This is your opportunity to contribute your ideas into the Canadian Sport Policy.
