KIDSPORT

Please find attached a NEW application form for the KidSport™ Fund Spring 2011 Intake. Equipment application click here. All applicants should use this form when applying for the April deadline. Applicants that submit old application forms will be asked to re-submit their application on the new form.

 If you are not the individual responsible for this type of program, please pass this information on to the person who is. If you know of anyone in your community that may benefit from the KidSport™ program, please also pass this information on to them.

 Copies of the application should be made and distributed to eligible applicants in your community. Please do not sign and then photocopy “Step 3 – Sport Information” to distribute the forms in mass unless you have spoken to staff in our office. This will help us ensure that all children who are applying are actually registered with the sport organization.

 Applications must be completed and received by the Sport Manitoba – Westman Region office by 4:30 pm on April 29^th, 2011. Please note that the actual deadline is April 30^th, which falls on a Saturday, so the deadline is moved to the previous working day. Applications can be mailed in, dropped off in person, or faxed in.

 Applications for any sports beginning between April and July 2011 should be applied for at the April deadline. We attempt to have funds for approved applications sent directly to the appropriate sport organizations within two weeks of the deadline.

 KidSport™ Intake Procedure

1)    KidSport™ applicants register with their chosen sport. As in the past, KidSport™ asks that you waive payment for individuals registering as KidSport™ applicants until a decision regarding their funding has been made.

2)    Your organization is required to fill out Step 3 of the KidSport™ application, confirming that the child is registered and how much the registration fee is.

3)    The KidSport™ applicant completes their form and submits it to the Sport Manitoba – Westman Region office, with all of the necessary documents attached. Financial information is required from every adult individual living in the household. Additional information may be requested.

4)    The KidSport™ volunteer committee meets as soon as possible after the deadline (April 30^th) and evaluates each application. Once an application has been approved, KidSport™ Westman will get payment to the sport organization as quickly as possible.

 Please Note:

1)    KidSport™ will not fund an application if the fee is paid at the time of registration. KidSport™ sends funds only to minor sport organizations and will not send funds directly to the applicants or make reimbursements for fees already paid.

2)    KidSport™ can only provide funding for registration fees. This does not include fundraising bonds, canteen bonds, pictures, etc.

3)    KidSport™ can only provide funding to minor sport organizations that are registered with and have paid their fees to their appropriate Provincial Sport Organization or schools that are members of the MHSAA. If you do not fall into one of those categories, children registering with your organization are not eligible to receive funding through KidSport™.

4)    KidSport™ also assists children by providing used sporting equipment to those in need. The same criteria apply except that applications will be accepted at any time of the year.

 The KidSport™ Fund’s mission is to overcome the obstacles that prevent young people from participating in sport due to financial barriers. Funding is provided to those that are otherwise unable to afford registration fees. Financial information is requested to ensure that mission is met. KidSport™ helps children up to the age of 18 get involved in healthy activities by providing support for community sport registration fees (up to $300/year/child) and equipment.
