Garbage Collection

Trash Can

Residential Garbage Collection will occur EVERY THURSDAY (refuse must be put out by 7:00 a.m.). All pickup will occur on the front street/curb side except for those residents backing onto Smith Drive; Railway Avenue; Crocus Drive (Mill Street to Brydon Street) and on the lane behind Maine Street E and Emma Street between Brown Ave and Mountain Ave. These exceptions will receive back lane pickup. Click here for the residential pickup map.

Tips to ensure your refuse is not left behind:
1. Put your garbage out by 7:00 a.m.
2. The best container for your garbage is a good quality garbage bag
3. If you use small kitchen bags or grocery bags for your garbage, put them in a larger sealed bag.
4. Package sharp objects (e.g. broken glass, knives, mails, needles) in puncture-proof containers with lids and put them in your garbage container.
5. Place all loose garbage (e.g. sawdust, ashes, and vacuum contents) in sealed bags. Loose garbage can blow out of the truck into the collectors’ eye and litter neighborhoods.
6. If you use garbage cans, remove the lids before placing the cans out for collection. Lids and empty containers can become a traffic hazard or become lost or damaged, especially on windy days.
7. Put small amounts of animal waste in tightly sealed double bags.
8. Bundle tree trimmings in lengths no more than one meter long (39 inches) and weighing no more than 34 kilograms (50 pounds)

All hazardous waste must be taken directly to the landfill by the resident. Garbage over 20 lbs. can either be delivered to the landfill or residents may arrange for a "bulky waste pick-up", the first Tuesday of each month, for a nominal fee. Contact the Municipal Office for further details.

The regional landfill, Evergreen Environmental Technologies, is located West of Neepawa on Hwy #16 (7 miles from the Bay Hill Inns & Suites) and 3 miles South on Provincial Road #466 (Cordova Road).
